Last month, my wife and I had the pleasure of exploring the beautiful wine district of Barolo in Italy, where we stumbled upon a charming country café that quickly became our morning haven. Each day began with a much-needed cappuccino and a cornetto di crema, all while soaking in the serene “bella vista” around us. It’s moments like these that highlight how life’s greatest treasures often come from the simplest experiences.
On our last morning, I noticed a message on the t-shirt of one of the kind ladies who served us every day. They had been so welcoming, especially with our broken Italian, always greeting us with huge smiles. The lady on the left in the photo wore a shirt that day that read, “Stress Less, Live More.”
It struck me as a timely reminder, especially in today’s world where stress and burnout have become the norm. This phrase, I believe, captures a simple but powerful philosophy that we all need to embrace, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.
As I reflected on this, I realised how pertinent this message is for everyone, whether a corporate leader, small business owner or at home. The pressures of daily life and work are immense, and stress levels are higher than ever. Many of us hesitate to seek help, fearing it might be perceived as a sign of weakness. It’s essential to understand that asking for help is not a failure; in fact, it’s a step towards resilience and better mental health.
Let’s all take a step back from the everyday ‘busyness and noise’ and start prioritising our well-being a bit more, embracing the “Stress Less, Live More” mindset. How good would that be!
